The BLACK MARIAS is a five-piece combo, featuring crooner JIMMY VEE on huckster-vocal duties with guitarist SCOT LEISHMAN, Bassist ALEX HEWETSON and Drummer ANTERO CESCHIN, with platinum chanteuse MARCELLA MINX adding vocal oomph, class and pout to the quintet.
The BLACK MARIAS re-interpret the classic jump blues anthems from the 1950's Broadway-Hollywood era, onwards to the twenty first Century, zapping it up with slick atomic style.
With a song-list that spans the genres of mambo, jive, torch, caterwauling jump blues with a sparkling sprinkle of exquisite originals, from Vargas and Leishman.
The BLACK MARIAS have played at esteemed Sydney venues such as the Rock Lily (Sydney Casino) Miss Peaches, Avalon, Vanguard, the Victoria Room, Hotel Blue, the Metro, Upstairs at Fred's, and were the honorary openers of the Surry Hills Festival in 2017.
