The episode stars Christopher Lloyd (One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975), The Onion Field (1979), The Postman Always Rings Twice (1981), Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988), Sin City: A Dame to Kill For (2014)) as The Continental Op, Laura San Giacomo (Sex, Lies, and Videotape (1989), Pretty Woman (1990)) as floozy Peggy Carroll, Darren McGavin (The Case Against Brooklyn (1958), Mike Hammer TV Series (1958–1959), The Outsider TV Series (1968–1969), The Night Stalker (1972)  TV Movie, Kolchak: The Night Stalker TV Series (1974–1975), and A Christmas Story (1983), Peter Berg (The Last Seduction (1994),  Collateral (2004)) as con man Joe Wales, and Michael Rooker (Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer (1986), Sea of Love (1989), Brown's Requiem (1998)) as Babe McCloor.

This was adapted from one of Dashiell Hammett's Continental OP short stories. In 1929,  the Continental Op is on the trail of a well-known high society socialite, who took off with a notorious gangster, She is now missing and her family is worried. The hire the Continental Detective Agency to find her. The tale involves blackmail and murder.
